Admissions Lab is a division of 422 Group, a privately-owned and -operated Delaware corporation. Significant funding to accelerate the company's growth has been generated from federal grants and private investment firms. Specifically, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Admissions Lab $500,000 (NSF IIP-0956891) through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program to develop an adaptive enrollment modeling capability within its Enrollment Manager™ software solution. In awarding the grant, NSF reviewers noted that the Admissions Lab team has “a deep understanding of the college admissions process, and the customer needs. They describe the customer's pain points quite well, and why colleges will need to get better at handling the communications process with students during the crucial decision-making period.”

In addition, Cutstone Ventures, an investment fund focusing on software-as-a-service opportunities, chose Admissions Lab as one of its main investment targets. Cutstone states that the Enrollment Manager™ service from Admissions Lab “addresses a true 'white space' gap within established competitors’ markets.”
